Task 1:
For my project I was inspired by one of my family members who passed away of cancer a couple years ago. She absolutely loved butterflies and therefore it inspired me to make something using this inspiration. I thought the moth would compliment the butterfly as they are similar yet different. I figured the butterfly would work well in a scarf design and would be something people would actually wear. I found some difficulty with creating the shadows of both as neither image really showed shadows and they are very symmetrical. I did try drawing other animals and flowers but I just could not get the outline to look the way I envisioned so the moth really helped with this. I am really hoping they work well with the scarf design and that I can make an interesting design with these images.

Task 2:
For task two I was inspired by thermal imaging cameras in order to create the tonal mapping and layers. I found it really helped to showcase the shapes we see within the wings of butterflies and moths. I created multiple layers for both drawings and used different colours in order to create the layers you see in thermal imaging while also bringing dimensions to the shapes. I found that I could use different tones of colours to create shadows. I also then went in and played around with textures for the butterfly, I was really happy with how the moth turned out so I didn't use texture there. For the butterfly I started by adding patterns on top of what I had but didn't enjoy the way it looked, therefore I added clipping masks from images I found on unsplashed. This worked well and brought some texture to my image.

Task 3:
For my scarf design I wanted to create something that was unique but also something wearable. The first image I found to be very busy and just didn't feel right. The second I loved, I found it made a perfect optical illusion while showcasing my designers and creating character. I used a simple black and white background image which I played with to make a beautiful yet simple background for my scarf. I think because the drawings are so small that you cannot see the textures I added in as much which was a little disappointing but I just loved the design so much and therefore I stuck with it.

Scarf Final Design:
This was my final design with the boarder. I think the floral boarder brought it all together and really related to the theme with the butterflies and moths. I used an image from unspalsh.com to create a clipping mask which I made into the boarder. I think it turned out really well and is something people may be interested in wearing. I think it is not too busy but its the perfect balance of colours and design. Overall I am very happy with my design and the way it turned out.
